DIY Colorful Terracotta Earrings

February 28th, 2019

As promised last week, I’m sharing a terracotta DIY today. These colorful terracotta earrings are an easy and festive way to add some earthiness to your style. To add some color and quirkiness to them I used some nail polish to add random dots of color around the hoop.

Materials Needed

Terracotta clay

Extra small round cookie cutter

Small round cookie cutter

3-4 Nail polish colors

Wax Paper

Earring Posts

Earring Jumps

Embroidery needle

How to

  1. Roll the clay out to be no thicker than 1/4 inch (be sure to use wax paper as the clay can stain surfaces easily)
  2. Use the small round cookie cutter to cut out bigger
  3. Use the extra small round cookie cutter to cut out smaller circle within the bigger circle
  4. Using the embroidery needle  create a small hole in smaller and larger circles, the holes should be at the edge of the circle so the jump can be connected after the clay is baked
  5. Place the earring post at back the smaller circle
  6. Bake both circles following the instruction provided on the clay packaging and let cool for 10-15 minutes
  7. Use a toothpick and nail polishes to place random dots around the larger circle/hoop and let dry for 10 minutes
  8. Connect smaller circle to the hoop and viola, you’re done!

And in case you’re wondering, they’re really light! I was a little worried that they would uber heavy but I totally forgot I had them on, they’re just like any other statement earring. I hope you enjoy making these and if you do share them with me on Instagram using the hashtag #feyinmade.
