Mudcloth Cupcakes: Valentine’s Day

February 9th, 2017

Inspired the by the popular Mali textile pattern, Mudcloth, these cupcakes are a fun way to infuse some more culture into your Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day celebration.
Cake Recipe
1 box of white cake
4 eggs (instead of the 3 recommended, help to make fluffier)
1/3 cup of butter (instead of oil, butter adds more flavor)
1 cup of milk (instead of water, again for more flavor and moistness)Follow box directions to combine ingredients and bake accordingly.Icing Recipe
3 cups of powdered sugar
1/3 cup of butter
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Food coloring (optional)

Mix sugar and softened butter, then slowly combine milk and vanilla extract. For Mudcloth design, use a different color from cupcake frosting, by dying with food color some of the frosting. After cupcakes are cool, spread thin layer of icing on cupcakes then using a cake decorating tip, draw Mudcloth patterns on to cupcakes. I used the above image as inspiration for some of the patterns I drew on to my cupcakes. Enjoy and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
And have a very happy and sugar filled Valentines’s Day.
