A Woven Goods Roundup

April 5th, 2019

I know I know, there’s a piece of woven furniture everywhere these days and I’m currently having a serious obsession with it all, actually I think I have always been obsessed with woven goods. I put together this short roundup of woven furniture and accessories featuring materials like sweetgrass, bamboo, rattan, and others, to share some ideas on how you can have some fun with them.

But first, I noticed when shopping for a lot of these items, some of their descriptions were a little unclear. For instance, some products would describe the material of an item as wicker, however, wicker isn’t a material is a method used to weave different types of materials (bamboo, rattan, seagrass, etc.) together. The wicker woven process can be traced back to ancient Egyptians, who used this process to create furniture and other items. And there are a number of materials used in the wicker process like Bamboo which is found in Asian regions and Rattan which is also found in Asian and some African regions. This probably explains why I’ve been able to find so many handmade goodies from places like Bali and Thailand on Etsy.

I think natural materials like these bring an earthiness and beautiful textures to your home and even your outfits. So in this roundup, I’m sharing some things that are currently in my shopping cart, along with a few ideas to bring woven goodies into your home and style (left-right):

  • I love how this round Silas Woven Rattan Coffee Table offers not only texture but also different natural hues.
  • This Woven Bamboo Pendant Lamp looks like it will transport you to a magical tropical dessert of some kind. Wanderlust anyone?
  • Shall we take a moment to admire these printed Zara Home storage baskets? I could live in Zara Home Spring catalog, it’s so dreamy, colorful and effortless just like those colorful baskets.
  • Of course, Target did not come to play any games with the release of their boho- chic Opalhouse collection. You might go there in search of paper towels and walk out with this Rattan Elephant Basket, but don’t blame me, it’s just so cute. I think I’m going to a planter in mine.
  • For your summer patio or porch, this Rattan Fan Accent Chair from Target (of course) looks like a true winner, I’d pair it with some bold and patterned pillows for some contrast.
  • Mirror mirror who is the prettiest texture lover ever, the simplicity of this Rattan Sunburst Mirror from Supermarché.
  • For your style, add some nature to your earring game with these Woven Rattan Hoop Earrings or add a pop of color to your outfits with this Junonia Sweetgrass Bag from IndegoAfrica.
  • Lay your jewelry and scarves down on this beautifully shaped Isla Woven Seagrass Tray.
  • Lastly, go on adventures near and far in these handmade Raffia Strap Sandals from Morroco.

What woven items are you loving this spring? I’d love to know, please share in the comments below!
